Designing interior

What is Vibeke doing in a metal workshop? Besides from the obvious – drilling holes, she’s making a prototype of a furniture piece. This is the first time Hatch & Bloom has made an entire interior concept including our own designs so we’re thrilled to see the outcome of Vibeke’s hard work. It’s not Arne Jacobsen and it’s not Philippe Starck. What it is, will be revealed soon …

Esben is leaving Hatch & Bloom

This blog is normally about happy news. Today, however, we announce that as of today Esben Rose Andersen is no longer part of Hatch & Bloom. The decision is made in mutual agreement and in all friendliness. Hatch & Bloom has seen rapid growth in short time, and we deeply appreciate Esben’s effort in this success.

As they say – the show must go on. And indeed it does: We are creating digital concepts and websites full speed and have exciting new stuff to show soon. Jeppe - another one of our brilliant graphic designers with web skills - is brushing up on the last design details right now (just when you think a website is ready, Jeppe's personal need for visual perfection sets in). After that, three new intersting digital projects to reveal. More to come ...

Sadly, the next chapter in the history of Hatch & Bloom will be without Esben. It has been a great journey - fun, hard, crazy and 1000 other things. Thanks, Esben! We will miss you both socially and professionally and wish you the best of luck.

Beyond Beyond Kyoto

Well beyond the conference “Beyond Kyoto – addressing the challenges of climate change” it is time to look back: The conference was a great success for Aarhus University with more than 1000 participants from all over the world – counting some climate superstars. We’ve also had great response to the conceptual setup and communication. On the final day of the conference, one our own superstars maybe overdid it a bit, wanting to be a part of the communication herself. The picture says it all.

Getting ready for the users

We’re just about to wrap up our field studies at Randers District Hospital. The process has left a lot of exciting impressions and we’ve indeed made some valuable findings. Right now, our anthropologist Lone is trying to order the comprehensive material, getting it ready for our first workshop with the users. Looks complicated? It is. Everyone who thinks a few new tricks and some fresh business thinking will make better hospitals – think again. It takes empathy, interdisciplinary work, creative thinking, structured setup and concrete doing. It takes service design at its best. We’ll tell you more as we progress in this project.

Decorating a new health centre

As a part of a bigger service design project, we are currently decorating a new health centre for the Municipality of Rebild. Why is Jacob looking so confused? Well the challenge is to make a centre that can function as more than just a place for treatment and therapy. Luckily, Vibeke, our industrial designer is here to help him. Her ambition is to create an inviting and relaxed atmosphere where both children and elderly citizens of Rebild can rehabilitate. We are not there yet, but already looking forward to the opening of the centre that will be visited by the Danish Minister of Health, Jakob Axel Nielsen.

Hallo Rikke!

Meet Rikke, our new Project Manager. Her entrance in Hatch & Bloom has been long awaited and we are thrilled to have her. As Project Manager, Rikke’s finest job is to structure everything from extensive projects to pitches with a quick delivery. With her sense of perspective and ability to organise, we are sure that our costumers will feel Rikke’s existence in Hatch & Bloom too. She used to be a music industry agent and boy, do we have a lot of juicy details about the Big Fat Snake break-up!

Biggest design ever

Passing the Concert Hall in Aarhus this morning was a bit more exciting than it usually is. The climate conference, Beyond Kyoto, is taking place right now and we’ve created the campaign and visual identity. In physical size, this is probably our biggest design ever. We’re very proud of the outcome and hopefully it will create the perfect backdrop when climate celebrities such as Gro Harlem Brundtland, Wallace S. Broecker and Sir David King join forces to address the climate changes.
