Moving to our new office

Monday. Moving to our new office (finally!). Here’s Vibeke manhandling what will become our meeting room lighting. We call it the spider. Others call it a bunch of architect lamps. Anyway, Vibeke probably never thought this would be part of her job description when she signed up for the job ‘concept designer’. The good news: It only took us one hour to install “phase 1” and get back to working for our clients. Tuesday we’ll have installed glass walls for the meetings rooms. Wednesday we’ll start looking at details. Who are we kidding? We’re a design agency.

How not to build a closet

The other late afternoon, two brave soldiers from Hatch & Bloom engaged in project “Build our own closet”. Even though professionals handle everything about our new office, Michael and Esben decided to do a little work themselves. Here’s Michael cutting metal with a circular saw meant for … stone. Kings & Queens of service design!

Not long ago Hatch & Bloom finished its first service design project on food service for elderly people. We have just begun a new and comprehensive service design project. This time it's not exclusively about the well-being of senior citizens, but of every citizen in the Municipality of Rebild. We have been assigned to design new health services and a new health center for the municipality. Right now our anthropologists are in the field studying the user needs. Soon we'll present our observations and first ideas. For now, let's just say the citizens are in for a fitness treat. So let the games begin. In Rebild as well as Beijing.

1-year anniversary and a trip down memory lane

Today’s the day when we celebrate the very first year of Hatch & Bloom. It’s a nostalgic moment to look back at a year that has exceeded our expectations in every way. We could flatter ourselves by telling how much we have achieved. However, we’ll rather give you a few funny facts about Hatch & Bloom. The first year counts 3 lost or damaged mobile phones, 2 keyboards ruined by champagne, 36 wrong turns when visiting clients or respondents (most of them on Jacob’s account), 12 absolutely last minute deliveries to the mail box (in one case we had to do some serious begging), 1 bump in a rental car, 1 bicycle accident, 3 serious cuts in fingers when doing prototypes, 2 missed ferries and lots and lots of other strange stuff we never thought of when starting one year ago.
As always, time goes by too quickly and the day rather caught us by surprise so strawberry-cakes with a candle and flags were the closest to a birthday cake we could get. Then again. We now know that even strawberry-cakes go together well with champagne. Congratulations us.
