The car and motorcycle business is one of magic, lifestyle and cultural icons. Think of the Porsche 911, the Aston Martin V8 and the Harley-Davidson. But what about the Puch Maxi “Milk Basket”? What about this iconic specimen of transport and “goods carrier” more likely to hit history books than any high-end vehicle? You may laugh (so did we when we discovered it just outside our office windows in downtown Århus). But you may also salute a truly great idea – this “two-wheel Volkswagen” by the people for the people. So is there a point to this story? Yes! That great ideas are never more than 20 feet away from you. Some of them have already been praised by the world. Some of them are waiting for their rightful claim to fame (Puch Maxi “Milk Basket” for instance). Some of them are just waiting to hatch and bloom.

Welcome, Mads

Meet our new graphic design talent: Mads Elmelund – member of the Hatch & Bloom team from March 1, 2008. It’s been hectic from the beginning – with Mads working on three major brands in his very first week. Were we testing him? Maybe. But it turned out Mads is hard to shake. At least he kept a steady hand through all three projects, including cutting out graphic layouts and assembling new (and exciting!) prototypes. Mads, welcome, we’re honored to have you (sorry about the noise and the crammed office space, but we’ll make it up to you shortly when we move to our new office. New office? Yes, that’s right – more about that in a little while, blog readers).

Hatch & Bloom hitting gastronomy

Did we mention our new collaboration with chef Mads Nybro (the guy with black glasses)? Being the former owner of the Århus-based restaurant Prince Ferdinand, now owner of Vakuum who does (serious experimenting we say) industrial gastronomy, product development, food styling and private dining he is the somewhat new branch of Hatch & Bloom. Mads is helping us develop new food concepts and his approach to taste, consistency and looks is refreshingly new. Above, he is hosting a workshop with Hatch & Bloom and one of our major clients. The subject is – for obvious reasons – a secret. But we can tell you as much as the day included lots and lots of yummy, finger-licking food.
